City Council
Rudy Guiliani came to City Hall this morning, arguing the elephants were “irrelevant.” Just “an event, a thing that happened,” he said.
Jeff Goldberg argued back, saying the elephants were an indication of things to come, bad things. He said it wasn’t a sign, because that was “lame.” But a “symptom,” an effect of something already in progress. Something very specific was to come, something specifically bad.
I agreed, as did many of them there.
Bloomburg asked me, “if it’s so bad, what would YOU do about it?”
“Didn’t you read my book,” I asked. “There’s solace in women. Their legs, hair, hands, and voice. Their wrists. Their waists in an otters mouth.”
Then, from the balcony, Nate let arrows fly, and him me and Jeff ran out of there.
